Alicia DeCosta

I earned the nickname ‘The Mayor’ as a child because I seem to run into someone I know wherever I go. Marketing is all about connecting the dots, and my ability to remember faces and names is one of my superpowers.

About

Alicia has always been obsessed with homes. Growing up in a real estate family, she spent weekends running through open houses and claiming which room would be “hers.” From an early age, she recognized the profound role our homes play as the backdrop to our lives.

As a native Oregonian, Alicia attended Jesuit High School and earned her degree in New Media Communications from Oregon State University, specializing in Print Media with a Minor in Writing. As a staff writer for The Daily Barometer, Alicia wrote a weekly Hollywood Hearsay column, sharing celebrity interviews and pop culture commentary.

During her junior year, she moved to New York City for NYU’s Spring in New York program, enhancing her media expertise in one of the world’s most dynamic cities.

A summer internship at Z100 ignited her love for media and pop culture. After working in the Promotions and Sales departments at Clear Channel Radio (now iHeartRadio), she moved on to a digital agency and later sold billboard advertising.

She joined Mountainwood Homes in 2013 after years of freelancing after her day job, writing the company newsletter, and working on marketing projects.

As Mountainwood’s Director of Marketing, Alicia loves the freedom to flex both her creative and analytical muscles while sharing the company’s story. She sees marketing as both a marathon and a sprint—dedicated to playing the long game but energized by seeing the immediate results of a successful campaign.

Alicia is a lifelong learner fueled by curiosity and a growth mindset. She finds inspiration in books, podcasts, and everyday experiences. With an eye for detail and strong organizational skills, she thrives on taking minimal information and shaping it into something impactful.

While she wishes she could shut her work brain off, Alicia loves attending concerts, bookmarking hotels she hopes to visit, and feeling nostalgic for the 90s. She recently married fellow Mountainwood teammate Ivan France in Palm Springs. They enjoy talking about how cool their next house will be, playing cornhole, and entertaining friends. She’s still trying to figure out how to be a modern-day Martha Stewart.
